What's on my heart and my mind, right now, is not only coronovirus as a pandemic. It's the impact of everything right now, on our mental health and wellbeing. We are all feeling it, myself included. I've been talking to so many people in our community who are fearful, anxious, exhausted, sleep deprived, feeling depressed, overwhelmed, feeling increased symptoms of pain they may live with, worry about their parents and children and families, and a theme being expressed of very deep uncertainty. I know this feeling of uncertainty. I've lived through deeply challenging times. I've lived with uncertainty in my own life. And I'm in the so-called higher risk category for this virus with a health condition I live with. So, I understand the fear. Very much.
And yet, I've felt fear in many ways in my life before. And within communities I've worked in, where fear and uncertainty is present every day. And what I do know is that our mental wellbeing is everything and I know over anything, just how important it is to be able to remain calm through it all. I know how to do this. I passionately want to support you to be able to do this too. I also know right now, where my knowledge, experience and passion lies in supporting others through these very real and uncertain times. Holistic support, and compassionate leadership with true acknowledgement, presence, and with so much understanding and love. I choose to change the story and and narrrative we tell ourselves and each other around 'this is hard'. Because whilst it is, I really don't choose to perpetuate that fear, anxiety and alarm, and all the reactions that are going on within us and external to us. Instead, I know that by changing our thoughts, beliefs, our narrative, the language we use, the perspective we have, having all the knowledge and resources that we need, will instead support us to respond in ways that encourage calm, to soothe our nervous systems, to treat our inner world as our temples, to nourish and nurture our immune systems and our whole beings. And to nurture and nourish each other. We can choose ways to consciously, intentionally and collectively participate in moving through these times, to support healing, to know and believe in our capabilities as human beings, together, to compassionately support one another. More than ever we need care, consideration, connection and community. And we need knowledge and support in ways we can choose to care for our mental wellbeing ever day. I live in the city and I feel the heaviness and the weight right now. I also feel the opportunity for collective healing through these uncertain times. I really do. And I passionately choose to be part of this compassionate leadership and change. As social distancing is becoming more real and very wise, the other side of this is that isoloation can perpetate loneliness and disconnection, and this has a deep impact on mental wellbeing. All of this is why I am creating a special offering as support through these uncertain times, to really nourish and nurture our whole being, and especially our mental wellbeing. I will be sharing more about this support, this coming week. Leading through these challenging times means to me, drawing from what I know so well within myself. I know and feel everything that others are feeling right now. And I passionately know about all the ways we can remain calm. I know how to do this for myself, and I want to support you to do this too. I've had many years experience with self leadership through uncertainty and very challenging times. I know that to soothe my inner world, is more important than anything. I know the conection between fear and our immune systems, and our whole wellbeing. Everything I have talked about, written about, spoken to over the last years - the significance of holistic wellbeing with everything - the significance of rest, stepping back, slowing down, self care as a way of being, self compassion, giving to others, generosity, connecting with presence, participating with consideration, and what I feel not only in my heart but in my bones, as the support we all need for healing. A truly holistic approach that begins with acknowledgment and compassion of the truth of our own experiences, and that all our feelings and emotions are so valid. We need safe and trusted spaces to share our hearts and to have the knowledge and resources, to believe in our innate capabilities, to heal. As part of what I am creating, this will be a safe and trusted space for nurturing, nourishing, presence, compassion and healing. To honour our nervous systems as our temples and to come together with understanding and with love. This will be a learning and sharing space, of holistic support, and ways we can move through these uncertain times with greater ease, and to feel absolutely supported in every way. More details will be coming this week.
